Women in the Woods: Intro to Mapping
June 25, 2025 at 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeDETAILS
Curious about the natural resources on your property? We have a wealth of information just a few clicks away using free online mapping tools like GRANITView, Google Earth, and ArcGIS Online.
Join UNH Cooperative Extension County Foresters Wendy Scribner and Lindsay Watkins for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn the basics of using these applications to explore your land and surrounding areas. Discover habitat types, soils, wetlands, water features, and topography. Learn how to view aerial photos, find your property boundaries using town tax map data, and explore how your land has changed over time through historic imagery. We’ll walk through how to access various data layers and interpret what you’re seeing.
There will be plenty of time to explore your own property online and ask questions along the way.
To get the most out of the workshop, please plan to bring a laptop or tablet if you can; we will also have a few devices to share. All mapping tools and data sources used are publicly available and free to access.
This program is sponsored by UNH Cooperative Extension and the Moultonborough Public Library.
